Ground Screw foundations

The Sustainable Bedrock of Modern Infrastructure

In sustainable construction, the foundation is no longer just a structural necessity — it is an environmental decision.

At Innoventum, we integrate ground screw foundation technology as a low-impact alternative to traditional concrete foundations. By combining Swedish engineering with recycled steel screw piles, we deliver a high-performance, reversible foundation system for renewable energy installations and modular infrastructure.

Ground screws reduce environmental impact, accelerate installation, and maintain structural reliability under demanding wind and load conditions.

Why Ground Screws? The Shift from Concrete to Carbon-Negative Foundations

For decades, reinforced concrete has been the default foundation method. However, concrete production accounts for approximately 8% of global COâ‚‚ emissions, making it one of the most carbon-intensive materials in modern construction.

Ground screw foundations offer a fundamentally different approach.

By eliminating concrete curing, reducing excavation, and using recycled steel, screw foundations can reduce foundation-related COâ‚‚ emissions by up to 85%.

The result is a lower embodied carbon footprint from the earliest stage of a project.

The Technical Edge of Screw Piles

Unlike traditional footings that rely on mass and gravity, ground screws utilize helical strength. As the screw is driven into the earth, it compresses the surrounding soil, creating a high-friction bond.

  • Material: Manufactured from high-quality, hot-dip galvanized steel (often recycled).

  • Load Bearing: Capable of supporting massive vertical (compression) and horizontal (lateral) loads, making them ideal for wind towers and solar arrays.

  • Immediate Loading: Unlike concrete, which requires days or weeks to cure, ground screws are ready for full structural loading the moment they are installed.

The Installation Process: From Survey to Structure

Our approach to foundations is rooted in Expertise and Experience. Every InnoVentum project follows a rigorous technical workflow to ensure long-term stability.

  1. Site Assessment & Soil Analysis: We evaluate the soil composition (clay, sand, rock) to determine the appropriate screw length and diameter.

  2. Pre-Drilling: For tougher terrains, a pilot hole is created to ensure the screw follows a precise vertical path.

  3. Hydraulic Driving: Using specialized equipment, the screws are driven to depths typically up to 2m, depending on load requirements.

  4. Load Verification: We perform lateral and tensile testing to verify that each screw meets the structural safety margins required for wind and solar installations.

Fast installation

Screw foundations can be installed quickly and easily without the need for excavation or concrete pouring, allowing each screw to be installed in minutes

Sustainable

• Eliminates concrete
• Made from recycled steel
• Reduces foundation CO₂ impact by up to 85%

Strong and stable

Strong and stable foundation for all structures, which ensures that they always stay in place even in high winds.

Cost efficient

  • Reduced labor requirements
  • Minimal site downtime
  • No curing delays
  • No post-installation maintenance

Reduced impact on the site

By installing screw foundations, it is done with a surgical precision which does not harm the surrounding environment. The screw foundations also leave no traces when you choose to remove the screws or move an installation beyond a small hole in the ground per screw. As a certified installer, we make safe and climate-smart installations. We are proud to offer this cutting-edge technology that is not only beneficial to our projects but also to the environment and world as a whole.
