Carport with Solar Panels

Carport with Solar Panels
Designed for performance and long-term value
Innoventum’s solar carports transform parking areas into sustainable energy assets by combining Scandinavian design, load-bearing glulam structures, and proven solar cell technology.
Each system is designed for both commercial and residential environments and is engineered with a focus on reliability, technical precision, and durability.

Designed for more than just weather protection
Engineer-optimized glulam structure
Our solar carports are constructed from glulam with high load-bearing capacity and predictable load behavior. The structure is designed in accordance with current Eurocodes, taking into account local wind and snow conditions.
Glued laminated timber is a strong and dimensionally stable material that allows for precise prefabrication and efficient assembly. Unlike steel, it is corrosion-free and requires minimal maintenance.
In the event of a fire, glulam undergoes a controlled charring process, which means that its load-bearing capacity can be calculated and maintained for defined periods of time—unlike unprotected steel, which rapidly loses its strength at high temperatures.
Ground Screw foundation
Ground screw foundations replace traditional concrete solutions and enable quick and gentle installation.
Made of galvanized steel, often incorporating recycled materials, they have a significantly lower carbon footprint than cast-in-place concrete foundations because they eliminate cement-related emissions.
The foundations are fully demountable and require no curing time, allowing for immediate installation and a flexible foundation solution with minimal impact on the ground.
Integrated solar roof for a carport
High-quality solar panels are integrated into a waterproof roofing system that combines energy generation with weather protection.
The system layout is optimized based on the site’s orientation, shading conditions, and energy needs, regardless of whether the goal is high self-consumption, charging infrastructure, or the sale of surplus electricity.
Increased energy production with bifacial solar panels
Our solar carports can be equipped with bifacial solar panels that generate electricity from both the front and back of the module.
Unlike conventional panels, bifacial technology captures not only direct sunlight but also light reflected from the ground beneath the carport. Thanks to the open design, the reflected light can reach the back of the panels, increasing energy production without requiring additional installation space.
Optimized for the albedo effect
The open structure of Innoventum’s solar carport allows light to circulate freely beneath the panels and maximizes exposure to reflected radiation.
When combined with light-colored or reflective ground surfaces, a measurable albedo effect occurs that increases total energy production. By using highly reflective or project-specific surface coatings, this effect can be further enhanced.
This makes bifacial technology particularly effective in carport installations compared to traditional roof systems, where reflected light is often limited.
Typical additional energy production from albedo
The actual increase depends on the reflectivity of the ground surface. Typical levels in carport environments are:
- Dark asphalt or weathered concrete: up to 8%
- Light-colored concrete or paving stones: up to 15%
- Gravel or light-colored stone: up to 18%
- Highly reflective or project-specific surfaces: up to 30%

Designed for quick and easy installation
Prefabricated glulam components combined with ground-screw foundations eliminate the need for concrete pouring and extensive groundwork.
Installation can be carried out while parts of the parking area remain in use, making the solution suitable for both commercial properties and residential areas.
The result is shorter lead times, less disruption to operations, and a faster start to energy production.
